BANGOR — A reported domestic disturbance late Monday evening led to two Aroostook County people going to jail, according to police.
Police were called to a Union Street apartment building at 11:30 p.m., and after an investigation, Steven Gonya, 28, of Houlton was arrested and charged with domestic violence assault and unlawful possession of a Schedule Z drug, Bangor police Sgt. Cathy Rumsey said.
Prescription medication not prescribed to Gonya was found in his pocket, Rumsey said.
After Gonya’s arrest, Casey Jo Henderson, 26, of Houlton was upset that Gonya was being taken to jail and began screaming obscenities at police, the sergeant said.
Despite repeated warnings to quiet down, Henderson refused to cooperate and began shoving police that were at the scene, Rumsey said.
That prompted officers to arrest Henderson, and unprescribed medication was also found in her pockets, and she was charged with disorderly conduct, refusing to submit to arrest and unlawful possession of a Schedule W drug, Rumsey said.
Both are being held at Penobscot County Jail.
