The Purple Hat Ladies had their first meeting of 2014 in Smyrna at the Brookside Inn Jan. 14. Leader Charlotte Marley was in attendance and greeted everyone. There were 11 ladies attending. Each one gave her special name matching the first initial of her own name.
Wannetta Townsend gave the blessing. Betty Wyman read a thank you note from the Ark Animal Sanctuary in Houlton for a recent contribution. The drawings for the month were Bernice Campbell and Evelyn Johnston.
Icy roads were a favorite topic amongst the ladies during the afternoon. One of our favorite ladies read In the New Year I Wish For You.
