Take Off Pounds Sensibly Chapter 0233 of Houlton met at the Aldergate building on High Street for its Friday, Jan. 10, meeting, the first since Dec. 20, 2013. Thirteen ladies were in attendance; three were KOPS (Keep Off Pounds Sensibly).
Loser of the week was Kay Grass with Barbara Whited the runner-up. Charlotte Marley led the meeting in the absence of Diane Folsom. Aileen Smith won the 50/50 drawing; the skinny dish was held over for another week.
Janette Nelson gave a financial report after the secretary’s report by Cheryl Driscoll. Person of the week explained the challenge, usually called a contest, and she named it “14 steps to new thinking.’’
Contest challenger explained that it is up to the individual to enter and progress in this challenge. She emphasized eating a hearty breakfast would help giving an analogy, “eat breakfast like a king; lunch like a prince and supper as a pauper.”
For the program, Charlotte’s topic was craving. She passed two questions, each different, onto the participants, such as “Do you crave or binge?’’ Each person answered as they confronted their question. The subject provided very interesting answers.
Take Off Pounds Sensibly, Chapter 0233 of Houlton, met at the usual meeting place (Aldergate building) on High Street for its Friday, Jan. 17 meeting. Leader Diane Folsom led the meeting and opened it to read a letter from our area representative, Janice Cote, wishing us a good year.
Thirteen members were in attendance including four KOPS (Keep Off Pounds Sensibly). Loser of the week was Lois Downing with Janette Nelson and Marsha Reed runners-up. Marsha Reed took the skinny dish home. A new address and birthday list was compiled and will be forthcoming by our efficient member, Charlotte. Many changes and deletions will be made.
Chapter 0233 will host a workshop in June. Plans will soon be made on the workshop. Our challenger, in charge of the new contest, helped members with filling out their contest papers. Diane then directed a quiz on nutrition knowledge. Marsha had the most correct answers and the runner-up was Barbara Whited.
