BELANGER, William “Bill”, 86, PLANTSVILLE, CT & PRESQUE ISLE, ME, Conn., January 16, 2014. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, June 24, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Presque Isle. Arrangements are in the care of Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, Presque Isle.
PLANTSVILLE, CT & PRESQUE ISLE, ME – William “Bill” Belanger, 86, of Presque Isle, ME, and Plantsville, CT, passed away on January 16, 2014, at The Hospital of Central Connecticut at New Britain General. Born on December 18, 1927, to the late Francois and Josephine Belanger, he was one of eighteen children.
Bill was predeceased by his first wife, Eloise (Lagasse) Belanger, four sisters and five brothers.
Bill leaves a wife, Wilma (Michaud) of Plantsville, CT; brothers, Joel, Aurele, Nelson, Wilson, Walter, Richard and Bernard; a sister, Doris; a son, Jody and his wife, Tina; five daughters, Jane and husband, Jim, June and husband, Randy, Joan and husband, Todd, Judy, Jean and husband, Steve; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by six step-children, Linda, Karen and husband, Mike, Susan and husband, Andreas, Brenda, Brian and wife, Karie, Lisa and husband, Ed; as well as 13 step-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.
Bill was an active member of the Knights of Columbus in Caribou and Presque Isle, and he was employed by A&P Stores for twenty-five years. Bill then owned his own Star City IGA store for several years and worked for Larry Thibodeau for over a decade. His passion was woodworking and spent many hours in his shed creating birdhouses and rocking chairs, among other things.
A service will be held at St. Aloysius in Plantsville, CT, to honor his memory at the convenience of his family. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, June 24, 2014, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Parish of the Precious Blood, Presque Isle.
