PI swimming results
The Presque Isle swim team had a pair of recent meets, the latest held Saturday at Ellsworth.
The opponents were the host Eagles and George Stevens Academy of Blue Hill. The Wildcat teams both fell to Ellsworth, while the boys bested GSA and the girls were defeated.
Alex Hemphill won the 200-yard IM in 2:37.56, Nate DeWitt the 50 freestyle in 24.5 seconds; and Dustin Drabek the 100 backstroke in 1:10.55. The 200 freestyle relay team from PI, consisting of Matt Burtt, Leigh Buck, Hemphill and DeWitt, was also victorious in 1:47.47.
The Wildcat girls’ team was paced by Sara Gilson’s runner-up performance in the 50 free. She finished the race with a time of 33.02 seconds. PI’s 200 free relay team took second place in 2:16.06. Heather Nadeau, Olivia Goulet, Naomi McEachern and Gilson made up the team.
At the Bangor YMCA Jan. 10, the Wildcat boys bested Hampden Academy, while the girls were beaten by the Broncos.
Drabek won two individual events, while Buck, Burtt and Hemphill each claimed victories.
Girls’ winners from the Wildcats were Goulet, Nadeau and Lambert.
The team’s next meet is home on Saturday against Washington Academy beginning at 3 p.m.
