Science Center to host moonlight snowshoe hike

    Join the Francis Malcolm Science Center on Saturday, Feb. 8, at 6 p.m. for a guided snowshoe hike through our woods. The trek is approximately 1 mile in length.

    This event is being offered free of charge thanks to Cary Medical Center’s Healthy You Program. Snowshoes are available but must be reserved in advance. Free hot chocolate and snacks following the hike. For reservations call 488-5451.

Parent’s night out for Valentine’s Day

    The Easton Wesleyan will be offering child care services on Friday, Feb. 14, from 5:30-9 p.m. to allow parents to go out. Payments will be by donation and go towards  church projects. There will be games, snacks and a movie. Please RSVP to lennydinardofan@yahoo.com or call Melissa at 227-4093 to RSVP and ensure a spot for your child.

School holding Tupperware fundraiser

    Easton Elementary will be doing a Tupperware fundraiser Feb. 5-26 to raise money for new cafeteria tables. If anyone is interested they can call the office at 488-7700 or there will be a link on their Facebook page when the fundraiser opens. They appreciate your support!

Community Fundraising Pageant

    The first meeting for the 2014 Easton Community Fundraising Pageant will be next Friday, Feb. 7, at 6 p.m. in the Easton High School Library! Please come to learn more and participate in the 2014 fun! There is a division for grades 1-12.  Hope to see you all there!

Parent Community Organization

    The group will be holding a Scholastic Book Fair on March 10-14 and are in need of volunteers. Contact  the Easton Elementary School or email epco@eastonschools.org for more information. The group is always collecting Boxtops for Education; don’t forget, they have expiration dates!

Sesquicentennial Committee needs photos

    The 2015 Sesquicentennial Committee is working on a publication and would like to include as many photos and corresponding articles by Feb. 15. If you have any photos that you would like to contribute, please attach your name and mailing address to the photo so that we can return it to you when we are done. Also, please indicate the year of the photo and identify people or landmarks. Any stories you may have that go along with the photo would be greatly appreciated! Upcoming Rec Programs

    The Easton Recreation Department is currently selling Holloway sweatshirts. Color choices are navy or royal and the cost is $35. Sizes available are adult XXS, XS, S, M, L, XL, 2XL and 3XL (there will be a higher price for 2XL and 3XL). Please order through the Recreation Department by emailing recreation@eastonme.com or calling 551-7737. 
    Ski Trips Every Wednesday in February — the Recreation Department will travel to BigRock. The cost is $15. This price is good for children and adults; includes lift ticket, lesson and ski rentals. We will depart directly after school from the elementary school and return to the hall by 6 p.m. Participants must register in order to have equipment ready. FMI email recreation@eastonme.com.

    Wednesday, Feb.5 — Junior Activities at the Hall from 9:30-11 a.m. BigRock field trip after school until 6 p.m. The cost is $15; pre-registration and release form required. Grades 5 and 6 co-ed basketball practice from 4:30-6 p.m.
    Thursday, Feb. 6 — Grades 5 and 6 co-ed basketball vs. Caribou at 3:30 p.m. at home. First and second grade basketball scrimmage at 4:30 in elementary school gym. Third and fourth grade basketball scrimmage at 5:15 p.m. in elementary school gym.
    Friday, Feb. 7 — Junior Activities at the Hall from 9:30-11 a.m. Senior “Wear Red” Day starting at 11:15 a.m. in the Recreation Room at the Manor. Lunch will be served, the cost is $3. Little Bears Cheerleading after school in the cafeteria until 4 p.m.
    Saturday, Feb. 8 — Little Bears first and second grade clinic with Varsity Club from 9-10 a.m. in the elementary school gym. The cost is $5. Little Bears third and fourth grade clinic with Varsity Club from 10-11:15 a.m. in the elementary school gym. The cost is $5. Fifth and sixth grade co-ed basketball vs. Mars Hill at 11:30 a.m. in the elementary school gym.
    Monday, Feb. 10 — Adult Nutrition Class at the Manor starting at 11 a.m. We’ll be making catalina taco salad; the cost is $3. “Gluten Free” After-school cooking program at the Hall until 4:15 p.m. We’ll be making “chili con corny.” Activity is free.
    Tuesday, Feb. 11 — Senior trip to Washburn Recreation Department for a Valentine’s Day lunch. The bus will depart from the Manor at 10:45 a.m.; lunch will be served at 11:30 p.m. Third and fourth grade basketball game at Limestone starting at 3:30 p.m. Fifth and sixth grade basketball game at Washburn at 4:15 p.m. 
    Wednesday, Feb. 12 — Junior Activities at the Hall from 9:30-11 a.m. BigRock field trip departing from the elementary school at 3 p.m. Contact the Recreation Department to register and for more information. Grades 5 and 6 co-ed basketball practice from 4:30-6 p.m.
