HERMON – Gerald (Jiggs, Jerry) C. Wilcox, 71, died on Monday, February 3, 2014. Born on May 30, 1942, Jerry was raised in Presque Isle by his parents, Lawrence and Estelle (Monahan) Wilcox, with his five siblings.
He was a proud graduate of Presque Isle High School Class of 1960. After graduation, he worked in a family business for over 10 years before joining Sears Roebuck in Bangor in 1972, where he was employed for 27 years before his retirement in 1999.
Jerry loved fishing with his friends and special time shared on the lake with his stepson, Butch. He enjoyed golf, driving his classic cars and playing cards, especially with his wife, Maureen, who was his constant companion. Together, they treasured traveling, visiting family and friends from Maine to Florida.
Jerry found his passion helping others during the past seven years as a dedicated volunteer bus driver for the Hammond Street Senior Center, where he was so appreciated by staff and members.
He loved his family and attended many school and sporting events in support of his nieces and nephews, and later his great- nieces and nephews. He will be remembered by his friends and family for his quick wit and infectious laughter. No one could recount a life experience like Jerry.
Gerald was predeceased by his parents; his brothers and sister, whom he cherished and supported: Dwight Wilcox, Kendall Wilcox, Lawrence Wilcox and Wyona Reynolds.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 10 years, Maureen Wilcox; his brother, Kermitt Wilcox and his partner, Shirley Umphrey of Waterville; his stepsons: Butch Day of East Orland, Aaron Beaulieu, his partner Amie Means and their daughter Bayli Beaulieu of Old Orchard Beach, Adam Beaulieu and his partner, Abbie Kakias of Mentor, OH; his sister-in-law, Gloria Wilcox of Mapleton; brothers-in-law, William Reynolds of San Antonio, TX, and Marty Bishop and his wife, Marcy of Jacksonville, FL. “Uncle Jiggy” will be greatly missed by his nieces and nephews whom he loved like his own children: Michelle Wilcox Ewing and Mark Wilcox of Presque Isle, Monica Wilcox Charette of Oakland, Robert Roux of Winder, GA, and Larry Wilcox of Caribou, as well as his great- nieces and nephews. He will be missed by his many friends.
