The varsity swim teams from Caribou, Presque Isle and Maine School of Science and Mathematics participated in a meet Thursday afternoon at the Limestone Community School pool. In the girls’ meet, Caribou notched a 74-62 win over the Wildcats and for the boys, Presque Isle defeated MSSM, 95-37.
Winners in the girls’ competition were the PI 200-yard medley team of Olivia Goulet, Jacqueline Lambert, Heather Nadeau and Sara Gilson in 2:29.33; Olivia Engstrom of Caribou in the 200 freestyle (2:44.08), Goulet in the 200 IM (3:18.06), Kristyn Maley of Caribou in the 50 free (31.4 seconds), Nadeau in the 100 butterfly (1:38.1), Gilson in the 100 free (1:15.78), Engstrom in the 500 free (7:19.87), the PI 200 freestyle relay team of Goulet, Lambert, Nadeau and Gilson (2:11.11), Maley in the 100 back (1:19.58), Lambert in the 100 breaststroke (1:28.98) and the Caribou 400 freestyle relay team of Engstrom, Courtney Cote, Madison Yakel and Maley (5:22.39).
Alexis Coiley of Fort Fairfield swam unattached and did not figure in the results, but came in at 2:21.29 in the 200 free and at 1:24.66 in the 100 breast.
Taking first place in the boys’ meet were the PI 200 medley relay team of Dustin Drabek, Matt Burtt, Nate Dewitt and Alex Hemphill (2:01.01), Dewitt in the 200 free (2:03.2), Drabek in the 200 I.M. (2:34.78), Hemphill in the 50 free (25.77), Dewitt in the 100 fly (1:02.68), Burtt in the 100 free (59.36), Laszlo Steinhoff of MSSM in the 500 free (7:46.26), the PI 200 freestyle relay team of Drabek, Hemphill, Burtt and Dewitt (1:47.95), Drabek in the 100 back (1:09.67), Hemphill in the 100 breast (1:17.33) and the PI 400 freestyle relay team of Leigh Buck, Kyle Kilcollins, Brenden Goulet and Joshua Jones (4:37.96).

Caribou’s Alex Scott competed unattached as well. He swam the 200 free in 2:09.08 and the 100 fly in 1:01.3.
Caribou and MSSM also were involved in a meet held Jan. 20 at Washington Academy.
Against WA, the Caribou girls won by a 72-48 score, while the MSSM boys claimed a 53-36 victory. Individual winners for the girls were Maley in the 200 free and the 100 back, Yakel in the 50 free, Marjorie McDonough of MSSM in the 100 fly and Engstrom in the 500 free. For the MSSM boys, Steinhoff in the 200 free, Andrew Arter in the 100 free, Zeb Keith-Hardy in the 100 breast and the 200 freestyle relay team of Keith-Hardy, Steinhoff, Gordon McCulloh and Arter were all victorious. Scott finished the 200 free in 2:12.34 and the 100 fly in 1:08.47.
Foxcroft Academy swept the Vikings in another event held Jan. 25 in Dover-Foxcroft.
The next meet will be the Penobscot Valley Conference championships. The boys will compete at Husson University in Bangor Friday at 6 p.m. and the girls also at Husson Saturday at noon.
