Aroostook County Emergency Management seeks volunteers to work with animals in disaster

CARIBOU, Maine — Officials with the Aroostook County Emergency Management Agency are looking for volunteers that would be willing to work with pets in the event of a shelter needing to be opened and residents would have to bring their pets with them.    “We need to be prepared to accept residents at local shelters when they bring their pets. The only way we can do that is to train volunteers that can be called upon to help when that happens,” said Darren Woods, director of Aroostook EMA.
Volunteers will be put into teams based on where they live; they will then be offered training and support so that they can be ready in case they are needed.
If you are interested in being a part of this team, please contact the Aroostook County EMA at 493-4328.
