A LUNCHTIME CRASH Friday briefly closed a section of Main Street in Presque Isle. Here, Karson Eaton’s truck is loaded on a flatbed, while Marin Blandon’s car is prepared to be loaded on another wrecker. The road was closed for about 40 minutes.
The accident involving a truck and a car was reported around 11:48 a.m. on Feb. 21.
“Karson Eaton, 18, of Mapleton, was driving a GMC Sierra north on Main Street and ran a red light, striking a Honda CRV driven by Marin Blandon, 34, of Presque Isle, as Blandon traveled west off Allen Street. The truck hit the side of the car, spinning both vehicles, with the truck landing against a snowbank near Park Street and the car stopping in a southbound lane,” said Kyle White, investigating officer with the Presque Isle Police Department.
According to White, Blandon and two children were transported by Crown Ambulance to The Aroostook Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries and later released. Eaton was not injured.
“Both vehicles sustained significant damage and were towed from the scene. No charges are pending,” said White.
Also assisting at the scene were members of the Presque Isle Fire Department who helped with cleanup, and Officers Lucas Hafford and Brian McQuarrie.
White said traffic was re-routed for about 40 minutes as personnel investigated the crash and cleared debris.
