Editor’s note: The following article is a synopsis written by staff members and volunteers of the Cary Public Library highlighting one of the suggested reading books, as determined by their staff.
Attention all grandmothers, sewing enthusiasts and those who love children and babies! Maggie Smith has written “My Blue Bunny, Bubbit” for us.
This story is about a little girl who loves her blue bunny as a dear friend and depends on it when sad or happy or in need of advice. That could be the whole story; however, she is getting a new sibling, which changes things.

Her gram who made the bunny as her baby gift comes to visit when the arrival is expected and Bubbit helps choose what they should make for the new baby. Plans, choices, cutting, sewing and stuffing are thoughtfully explained and the process is pictured clearly for young readers. Bubbit is concerned with details; that’s for sure!
This book is infused with love throughout, yet isn’t sugary. Pictures are detailed, colorful, and heart-warming. Enjoy this book by yourself, with a child, and share with others; you’ll be glad you did.  (jFIC, Smi, P identifies it.)
