Soderberg, Carl G., 82, February 27, 2014. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. at North Stonington Bible Church, Connecticut on Saturday, March 8. A private burial will be held in New Sweden at the convenience of the family. Arrangements by Labenski Funeral Home, Norwich, CT.
NORWICH, CT – Carl G. Soderberg, 82, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday while surrounded by his family.
He was born in Caribou, ME, on April 29, 1931, to the late Gunnar and Vella (Murray) Soderberg. After completing high school, he worked on his father’s potato farm in New Sweden, ME.
On November 6, 1950, he married his beloved wife Glenna (Johnston) in Caribou, ME. In 1959, they moved to Connecticut where Carl started a 32 year career at Pfizer.
He retired as a powerhouse foreman in 1991.
Carl was a loving husband and a humble servant of God. He was devoted to his faith, his family, and his church. He served as a deacon and elder at N. Stonington Bible Church and was one of the founding elders when the new church building was completed. He also enjoyed motorcycles, gardening, golf, and raising honey bees.
Besides his wife Glenna, survivors include his sons: Mark and Scott; Scott’s wife, Donna; a daughter, Karyl Drummond and husband Gene; all of his siblings including his brother Douglas Soderberg and wife Frances; sisters: Marilyn Bolin and husband Arnold, Dorothy Stahl and husband Philip, Jean Tracey and husband Chuck. Also surviving him are grandchildren: Heather Gerl, William, Erik, and Brittany Soderberg, Amberly Karacz, and Kurt Drummond along with numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at North Stonington Bible Church on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. The church is located at 100 Jeremy Hill Rd., N. Stonington, CT 06359. There are no calling hours. A private burial in New Sweden, will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations in Carl’s memory may be made to the church building fund.
