He was a graduate of Presque Isle High School, Class of 1963. Merle worked as a maintenance man at Northern Maine Technical School for many years. He always said he was the new kid at the job, and learned so much from the older men that he worked for. He had many fond memories of working at the school. Merle was self-employed at the Slaughter House in Mars Hill and worked as Deputy Sheriff.
In 1988, he married his wife, Carol Mosher Kenison. They had 25 great years. They enjoyed the times they spent in the woods, just riding ATV’s or bird hunting from their woods camp. He was an avid hunter, gun collector, and all hunting gear, especially antiques. Merle was especially proud of his Master Guide license and in the later years, loved guiding moose hunters, especially the “Rockland Cowboys” who grew to be extra special friends.
Joe Ginn and his wife, Stacey have been a huge blessing to the whole family.
Merle is survived by his wife, Carol of Mars Hill; his sister, Donna Dzierzynski and her husband, John of Blaine; two step-sons, Paul Kenison and his wife, Teri of Orono, and Scott Kenison and his wife, Marcy of Poland; grandchildren, Holli, Lukas, Tayler, Hannah and Sarah Kenison.
He was predeceased by his parents. He can finally hear his best friend, Crouse saying “Hey Squirrel”.
