Next Step Maine Scholarships now available
AUGUSTA — The Maine Development Foundation and its partner, the Maine State Council of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), have announced the second year of its scholarship program for adult and non-traditional aged students, the Next Step Maine Scholarship Fund.
Applications are now being accepted for up to 20 available scholarships in 2014, with awards of $1,000 to $2,500. These scholarships are designed for employees who are engaged in taking the next step in their education, who are pursuing an associate’s or bachelor’s degree or industry certification, and who are considered promising contributors to the companies or organizations for whom they work.
Scholarship applications must be submitted by employers, who can “nominate” eligible employees, and this year, employees are also required to write a short personal statement, as well. Nominators must be a Maine Employers’ Initiative committed employer to nominate an employee.
If you are not sure whether you’re a member, check the list at http://www.mdf.org/mei_employers.php. All applications will be made online this year, and can be found at http://www.mdf.org/events/Next-Step-Maine-Scholarship-Application-Period-Open/632/.
