This spring, hunters in Aroostook County will have the opportunity to hunt turkeys for the first time in northern Maine.The Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife is hosting three informational meetings this spring to help hunters prepare for the upcoming turkey season.
The meetings will be led by IFW wildlife biologists and the informational sessions will include topics such as hunting zones, season dates, wild turkey history, Maine turkey hunting history, future turkey management, hunting skills and ethics, landowner relations and safety.
Anyone interested in learning more about Maine’s wild turkey population and the upcoming season should attend one of the following meetings at these locations and times:
• March 18, 6:30-8 p.m., at the Monticello Fish and Game Club, US Route 1, Monticello;
• March 19, 6:30-8 p.m., at the Fort Kent Municipal Building, 416 W. Maine Street; and
• March 26, 6:30-8 p.m. at the Northeastland Hotel, 436 Main St., Presque Isle.
