Great news for Houlton Water Company (HWC) electric customers who receive their energy supply through standard offer.
For the second year in a row, energy supply rates are going down. Beginning April 1, 2014, the new energy supply rate will be 6.479 cents, representing a decrease of 10 percent from the current 7.214 cents.
The present standard offer agreement for energy supply was negotiated between HWC and Algonquin Energy Services for two years, effective April 1, 2013 until March 31, 2015.
“The new energy supply rates will decrease the average residential bill by $4 per month,” said John Clark, president of HWC. “Although not a huge decrease, we feel fortunate that this agreement has kept costs down for our customers.”
