The town of Monticello held its annual meeting on Monday with residents authorizing a decrease in its municipal spending for the year.
The overall municipal appropriations totaled $548,704, which does not include the school or county tax share. Last year, the town of Monticello approved a municipal budget of $546,821.
The highest individual increase for the town came in the amount allotted for ambulance service through Crown Ambulance. Town Manager Ginger Pryor noted the increase was $1,200, which is determined per capita or by the town’s population.
During this article, several residents inquired to why Monticello does not use Houlton Ambulance Service.
“We will be exploring that option,” said Pryor.
Selectmen voted to serve a three-year term will be Jimmy Burpee and Terry Wade, while Sandra Wilkins will be the town’s representative on the RSU 29 school board. All warrant articles passed, with few questions.
“It was basically more clarification on articles,” Pryor noted. “The budget saw a few line increases, but overall, it was kept the same as last year.”
