The Caribou Parks and Recreation Department’s girls travel basketball team made it to the finals of the County Tournament, held March 8 in Fort Fairfield.
The Vikings defeated Ashland, 25-8, and Fort Fairfield, 24-10, in their first two contests. Taylor Skidgel scored nine points and Kimmy Susi six, while Sage Dubay and Renee Stubbs were the defensive leaders in Caribou’s win over Ashland.
Against the Tigers, Susi tallied eight points, Skidgel notched six and five other players scored two points or more in the win. Abbi Allen and Edie Shea turned in some excellent defensive play and chipped in with some nice assists.
Caribou fell to Presque Isle in the championship game, 29-16. The Wildcats used a 12-2 run in the second quarter to break open a close game. Alaina Legassie had 13 points to lead PI, while Madison Stratton fired in six points and Susi added four for Caribou.
The Vikings finished the season with a 15-6 record.
