CARIBOU, Maine — The popular History Channel show “Top Gear” will be in Caribou for the next four days shooting film for a show, with an air date undetermined.
Officials with BBC Worldwide Production, the Los Angeles-based company that produces the show to broadcast on the History Channel, confirmed on Tuesday afternoon that while the show’s title is still under wraps, the show is snow-themed.
Caribou’s notorious snowy winters contributed to its selection as a site for filming.
“The production crew has said that the people of Caribou have been wonderful in helping them set everything up,” the BBC official said in a Tuesday phone interview.
“Top Gear” is described on the show’s History Channel website, which states that in its current fourth season, “each episode follows the guys as they venture down the country’s open roads to bare the past, present and future of everything in American car culture.”
While local folks have been flocking to filming sites, BBC officials are asking that those who do turn out to watch the show being made please give the production team a bit of space to do their work, as they’re on a very tight schedule.
Additional information about the Caribou filming of “Top Gear” will be available in future issues of the Aroostook Republican when it becomes available.
