Buyer, beware!

To the editor:
Presque Isle is a very small community and it is important to encourage our small business owners whenever we can purchase locally.

However I was shocked when I purchased a pellet stove that cost me just a little over $3,000, got it home and decided I could not keep it. I immediately called the business and informed them that I would be returning the stove with all the parts. I expected a small restocking fee may be charged and to my total surprise, I was informed about a week later that the restocking fee would be $1,000.
I think that when a small business in our area is not more sensitive to customer needs and charge such exorbitant restocking fees, it is simply unacceptable. Please beware and before you pay for any item in any business in this area, ask if they have a restocking policy.
In hindsight I would not have purchased the stove in this area and gone to another vendor where they have no restocking fee.
