Sending residents the wrong message

To the editor:
March is a formative month in Maine. Continuing a tradition that began well over 200 years ago, residents of each community in Maine will meet and decide the allocation of town resources in town meetings. It is a noble tradition that sets Maine apart from other members of the United States.

    To help this process, each community produces an annual report that details the business of the community. This report also details the issues where input and authority must be granted for actions to take place.
The latest town report for Castle Hill, Mapleton, and Chapman, was delivered in a sack that proudly touted Idaho potatoes. Why?
