PRESQUE ISLE — Local 4-H participants will benefit from the fund-raising efforts of the Tractor Supply Company store located on the Houlton Road. Members joined Store Manager Keith Smith on March 17 to thank him and his staff for their continued support of 4-H programs in Aroostook County.
“Tractor Supply in Presque Isle (store 1419) was recently recognized with three awards for its outstanding performance during this year’s 4-H/TSC Paper Clover Campaign. The store received the Regional Champion Award for having one of the top five highest transaction percentages for Paper Clover donations in its region. Additional awards achieved were the District Champion Award for the highest transaction percentage in its district, and the Class Champion Award for achieving the TSC company goal,” said Leisa Devoe, 4-H community education assistant with the University of Maine Cooperative Extension.
Smith said it’s a good fit between his store and the 4-H program.
“We partnered with 4-H through the Clover program, with money raised donated to the club to support activities in the region. We have another drive coming up in which kids will bag and carry out merchandise for customers. These programs have proven to be quite a success not just for the store but for the 4-H organization,” said Smith.
The Paper Clover Campaign raised several hundred dollars for the local club.
“Keith presented us with a check for $688. The money will be used for kids in The County. It will be used for anything educational and 4-H driven, including supplies used in teaching youth how to raise and care for animals,” said Devoe.
The 4-H/TSC Paper Clover Campaign is a nationwide, in-store fundraiser that benefits 4-H programming in the communities where a TSC store is located. The fall 2013 campaign was a very successful promotion, raising over $627,000 that will support 4-H at the local, state and national levels.
