HOULTON – Bernette (Plourde) Roach, 67, died March 21, 2014, at a Portland hospital after a short illness. She was born May 15, 1946, in Van Buren, the daughter of Freeman and Stella (Gagnon) Plourde.
Bernette was a communicant of Saint Mary of the Visitation Church, and member and treasurer of the Houlton Council of Catholic Women. She was past vice president of Houlton Jaycee Wives and was a Cub Scout leader. She was employed with Forrest W. Barnes Law Office from 1964 to 1968 when she married her husband Bill Roach, and then again from 1976 to 2013. Bernette enjoyed early morning walks, loved flowers and nature but her greatest love was time with her grandsons.
She is survived by her husband William (Bill) Roach of Houlton; two children, David of Wiscasset and Debbie and her husband, Mark Winship, of Gray; three grandsons, DJ Roach of Wiscasset, Ben Roach of Houlton and Zachary Winship of Gray; brothers, Don (Bobby) Plourde and Linda Thomas of The Villages, FL, Gary Plourde and wife, Patty, of Keystone Heights, FL; sister-in-law, Carolyn and her husband, Jim LaBossiere, of Old Town. She was predeceased by her parents and grandson, David Isaac Roach.
Friends may call at the Dunn Funeral Home from 11 a.m. Wed. until time of departure for a 1 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Saint Mary of the Visitation Church.
