Maxwell is a very well adjusted four-year old neutered male, residing at the Halfway Home Pet Rescue Adoption Center at 489 Main St., in Caribou. He has always been an in-house only cat and that is just fine with him. He has a mind of his own to basically be a lap cat who enjoys lots of loving attention. He likes being groomed and gets along with all people and other cats. Maxwell likes a clean environment and does his own personal best to keep things that way. Maxwell has had all of his medical completed and is scheduled to go to Portland on April 1, if he has not found his favorite family here. He is a very special sweetheart. Come on over to meet Maxwell on Saturday at 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. or by special appointment by calling Mary at 999-1075.
Our special angels this week are all of you who have lovingly supported the Ark Sanctuary in Houlton with financial gifts and supplies. This support has boosted their morale so they are currently planning their rebuilding project. A total of over $34,000 was raised from 14 nations and also from every single state in the union and a huge support from the town of Houlton residents. Volunteers at HHPR are pleased that we were part of their loving spiritually supportive team. Lorraine, founder of the ARK, recently said that “the cause of animals brings people together,” and certainly this disaster reached hearts all around the world. The Humane Society of the United States also gave them a disaster grant of $25,000. “Bless the Beasts and the Children for in this world they have no voice, they have no choice.” Bless all of you for caring.
Halfway Home Pet Rescue is in the process of moving their temporary thrift outlet “Bargains Galore” from 159 Bennett Drive to 31 Herschel St. in Caribou and should be reopened by March 29. We hope you will come visit us and enable us to keep you happy for most of your shopping needs at very reasonable prices.
We are available to take donated articles only on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 31 Herschel St. Our fund-raising programs of recycling used shoes, used ink cartridges and returnable bottles and cans has now naturally extended to all nicely used items of your home that you do not wish to store any longer. Your recycling items give our precious cats a second chance to have a wonderful loving home. You may drop your items off at 31 Herschel St. on Saturday, or at 11 Pioneer Ave. on weekdays.
Please keep your recyclables coming to us, as they are our financial foundation for our spay/neuter programs, food pantry, medical care and medical supplies. Remember when you adopt from HHPR your new family members comes to your home as a sterilized adult or a baby kitten with a spay/neuter voucher to be billed to HHPR when the baby is old enough for sterilization surgery.
HHPR is a 501c3 charity which means your estimated value of recyclables are income-tax deductible. We are a volunteer-based Maine state inspected and licensed pet rescue. HHPR volunteers are appreciative of all the community’s efforts allow us to accomplish for our homeless kitties.
