There are many kids that are obese in the world. The snack cart at our school needs to be healthier. Most kids don’t eat fruits and veggies. I do; I would buy little cups of fruit off the snack cart if they had any. Even if they don’t have fruits or veggies they should still have the option to buy them.
Today in the world kids eat too much junk food. On the snack cart there are chips, Snack Mix, flavored water mixes, and Pop-Tarts. All of the above are high in fat and sugar, which is not good for kids’ health. The snack cart should have fruit cups, veggie cups, and smoothies.
The snack cart only has junk food. Junk food can cause diseases. Some diseases are heart disease, cancer, diabetes, high blood pressure, and obesity. Flavored water mixes have lots of sugar in them. Sugar makes you tired and groggy. You can’t be groggy and tired at school. You will fall asleep. You can’t fall asleep in school, and if you are sleepy during a test you won’t do your best.
Healthier snack cart choices are fruit, smoothies, and cups of veggies. Did you know that one out of three kids are obese or overweight? Sugary drinks are a big reason why. Some of the best snacks for kids are cheese, peanut butter, whole grain cereal, and yogurt. Did you know that orange juice is the healthiest juice because it does not have as much sugar? This is weird, but apple is the worst because of how much sugar is in it.
Some people might argue that they don’t want healthier snack cart snacks. They want chips, flavored water mixes, or even Snack Mix, but these days I hear a lot of people saying, “I hate how fat I am.” But the next time I eat snack with them, they are eating a huge bag of junk food.
The snack cart needs to be healthier. Kids eat a lot of junk food. Sugar is bad because it makes kids hyper or tired, and their behavior affects their grades. Juices contain a lot of sugar. Sometimes kids think they are being healthy and they really aren’t. Check the nutrition facts, and look before you eat or drink!
