Gail, our Friends’ coordinator, wants to remind everyone that the first meeting of the Friends’ group will be at the Mark and Emily Turner Memorial Library in Presque Isle at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 26.

A FOREVER HOME  — Brody and Cain (pictured from left), dogs found abandoned at a home in Ashland earlier this year, now have a forever home. The pair recently were featured at the Bridal Expo at the Northeastland Hotel in Presque Isle and adopted as a result of their appearance.

She would love to see all the friends that have been with us over the years and will welcome any new members to the group. Older children are welcome; 16 years of age and younger must be accompanied by an adult. Come and join in the fun and help a wonderful cause!
We had an amazing turnout at the Bridal Expo last Saturday at the Northeastland Hotel. We took Cain and Brodi dressed up in their little tuxedos and they were definitely the hit of the show!
These two little dogs were abandoned in a trailer in Ashland a few months ago. Cain,  the father, is 9 years old and was neutered after we took him in, while his son, Brodi, age 4, had to have knee surgery. Both recovered nicely with the loving care of Betsy, Sharon, Crystal and Heather at the Central Aroostook Humane Society.
Our hope was to see them adopted together and our prayers were answered. They found a wonderful new home to call their own without ever worrying about being cold, hungry or abandoned again.
Tammy Lovely coordinated the Expo and the shelter was given a whopping $300 donation. We also thank those that stopped by our booth to purchase shelter merchandise or drop a donation in our jar! We truly appreciate the community support that we receive from not only organizations such as the Expo, but the many people and businesses that give generously on a regular basis. Without your support, we couldn’t do what we do for the homeless animals of Aroostook County.
Just a reminder that our cold weather is hanging on and that means bringing your pets inside where it is warm and dry. Even though our calendars are saying “The first day of spring,” hypothermia and frostbite can still be dangerous. If you must have your pet outside for a period of time, please make sure they have someplace out of the elements and the wind — preferably a warm, insulated doghouse with a thick layer of straw for bedding. Remember to always have fresh water at all times.
Stop by the Central Aroostook Humane Society and see the many wonderful pets just waiting for a loving home of their own! We are open Tuesday-Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., closing for lunch noon to 12:30 p.m. Please be responsible, spay and neuter your pets!
