Do you want your kids sitting around all day at school? Our school should involve more athleticism for us! It’s not healthy to sit at our desk all day at school. Exercise has been shown to increase our success in school and in life. Schools, family, and community should help kids stay active.
One in three American kids are overweight or obese, nearly triple the rate in 1963. Sitting at our desk all day is not healthy for our bodies. With our growing bodies we need the proper exercise. Without the proper exercise we could get high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, or elevated blood cholesterol levels, in adulthood or even before!
Did you know regular physical activity has been shown to to help kids succeed in school and in life? Just being active for 60 minutes each day has shown to increase concentration and focus,
improve classroom attendance and behavior, and boost academic performance. Just 60 minutes each day can do that! So, if teachers could throw in some games that still help you learn but are active, that could help us on the next test. Principals always want their school to be smart, so if they add 60 minutes of some sort of exercise we could be a smarter school.
The First Lady has started something called a “Let’s Move” school. A “Let’s Move” school provides five keys to keep kids stay active: physical education, physical activity during school, physical activity before and after school, family and community involvement, and staff involvement. If we did activities it might help kids stay more active.
Some people may argue that they don’t want to do exercises, or that they don’t want their kids staying after school, or going to school early in the morning waking them up. But, kids don’t exercise enough! Most kids get home and play video games, instead of going outside and playing. One in three American kids are overweight or obese, if we could take some time as a school to exercise, or play an active game, or we could become a, “Let’s Move” school we could be more healthy. Playing games and exercising can reduce stress. Teachers would enjoy this because kids would be less hyper.
Schools should involve more athleticism for us during school. If schools helped kids stay active we could become a healthier school. Kids could help themselves succeed in school and life from exercising. If schools involved more exercise for kids we would focus better too, which means better grades!
