Presque Isle High School holds Awards Night

    PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Students from Presque Isle High School were lauded for their individual efforts in athletics March 3. The following is a recap of the awards handed out at the ceremony.
Receiving jackets for being senior athletes lettering all four years in one sport were Sara Gilson, Jacqueline Lambert, Naomi McEachern, Heather Nadeau, Nate DeWitt, Dustin Drabek, Alex Hemphill and Joshua Jones, swimming; Shannon Sweeney, alpine skiing; Mikayla Albert, girls’ varsity basketball; and Andrew Michaud, Mike Michaud and Tyler Seeley, hockey.
Receiving sweatshirts (athletes with six varsity letters in any combination of varsity sports) were: Gilson, swimming and tennis; Hannah Graham, soccer and basketball; Krystal Kingsbury, soccer and basketball; Andrew Michaud, hockey and track and field; and Noah Rossignol, cross country running and Nordic skiing.

Junior varsity cheering (coach Gabby McCrum) — certificates: freshmen Justin LaBier, Gwenyth Ortman, Alexis Simpson, Ashley Turner, Brittany Warner and Victoria Williamson; sophomores Caylie Levasseur and Shaye McHatten; and juniors Sofia Crouse, Briana Devoe and Tori Harvath.
Varsity cheering (coach Jenna Bradstreet) — first-year letters: freshman Gabriella Donovan and junior Mackayla Burbee; second-year: sophomores Madison Bagley, Michelle Cawley, Lindsey Lagerstrom, Alexandra Michaud and Kellsey Michaud and juniors Renee Browning, Emily Buckley and Madalyn Caron; third-year, seniors Katelyn Michaud and Kelsie Spooner.
Girls swimming (coach Joyce Price and assistants Karrie Brawn and Erica Hemphill) — certificates: freshmen managers Izabelle Burtt and Emma Curtis. Third-year letters: junior Olivia Goulet and senior Laura Watson; fourth-year: seniors Sara Gilson, Jacqueline Lambert, Naomi McEachern and Heather Nadeau.

Nordic skiing (coach Von Perry) — first-year letters: freshmen Nick Bartlett and John Saucier; sophomore Sam Gray; and junior Amanda Palmer; second-year: sophomores Emily Colligan, Alyssa Sweeney and Gannon Therrien; third-year: juniors John Freeman and Noah Rossignol.
Alpine skiing (coach Scott Smith) — first-year letters, freshmen Sarah Morneault, Grace Player, Bartlett and Saucier; and sophomore Gray; second-year, sophomores Alyssa Sweeney and Bryce Smith; third-year: juniors Chris Carroll and Freeman; and senior Kyle MacCallum; fourth-year: senior Shannon Sweeney.
