Bouchard, Robert P., 78, March 23, 2014. A memorial service will be held mid-summer. Interment will be held in the Maine Vetarans Memorial Cemetery, Augusta.
Robert P. Bouchard, 78, of Manchester, Maine, and Bradenton, Florida, lost his courageous battle with cancer at his home on Sunday, March 23, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. Bob was born and raised in Caribou, the son of Lucille Olsen Hedman and Louis Philip Bouchard.
After a stint in the Army, Bob married Bernadette Bard of Fort Kent in 1959 and they settled in Caribou to raise their family.
Bob enjoyed a forty-plus year career in the construction industry, starting out as a carpenter and advancing to superintendent. He was most proud of his work in the building of several Maine schools. Bob had a passion for the outdoors and enjoyed many adventures in the woods of northern Maine. His favorite place to spend time was at Square Lake, where he built a camp with his family. He engendered in his children a love of life on the lake, time around the campfire, and building and home improvement projects.
Following his retirement in 2005, Bob discovered golf and cooking, and became an avid reader and player of Words With Friends. Bob continued to share his building knowledge and common sense with others, especially his Fourth Bayshore family, whose company he especially enjoyed these last several years.
Bob is survived by his wife, Bernadette, and his children and their spouses: Mark and Christina Bouchard of Cumberland, Delia and Merton Dearnley of Monmouth, Julia and Ron Quinn of Rochester, New Hampshire, Rebecca Bouchard and David Cahillane of Hatfield, Massachusetts, and Michael Bouchard of Wiscasset. He leaves his grandchildren and step-grandchildren, Gabrielle and Elizabeth Bouchard, Benjamin and Nicholas Dearnley, Pat and Jayme Quinn, and Alicia Cahillane. He is also survived by his siblings, David Bouchard, Judy Garrett, and Joyce White, and many nieces, nephews and extended family members from California to Texas and from Wells to Fort Kent.
The family will celebrate Bob’s life with a memorial service mid-summer and he will be interred at the Maine Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Augusta. Those wishing to give a gift in Bob’s memory may make a donation to: The Harold Alfond Center for Cancer Care, 361 Old Belgrade Road, Augusta, Maine, 04330.
