The Island Falls Senior Citizens met at the municipal building on April 3 with 20 members and three guests present for a ham dinner, complete with a wide assortment of desserts. The dinner was our semiannual fund-raiser for our scholarship fund.
After dinner, our business meeting was opened by our president, Rich Camire. The secretary’s and treasurer’s reports were read and adopted. Treasurer Jeanne Clements reported that, after today’s fund-raiser, we have reached our goal of $250 for our scholarship fund.
A report to the sunshine committee requested four cards to be sent to members or former members in nursing homes.
Verna Boone reported on a train trip that will be held the weekend prior to Memorial Day to Scopan from Oakfield. Tickets are available at the train station from Oakfield.
Members present at the meeting were Gloria Noyes, Ursula Levesque, Helen Sherman, Mary Lawler, Dennis Boone, Verna Boone, Darrell Hartin, Iona Nadeau, Donna Baker, Jeanne Clements, Rich Camire, Edith Dwyer, Mary Pipes, Terry Dwyer, Judy Botting, Leon Botting, Edward Dwyer and Paige Coville. Guests for the dinner were Mary Fowler, David Dionne, Jutta Beyer and Patti Hartin.
The next meeting will be held on April 17 at the municipal building. A discussion of our semiannual outing will occur, and also Rich and Darrell will entertain.
