Maine Agri-Women Judy Kenney and Mary Anne Buck recently read books provided by Ag in the Classroom to pre-K, kindergarten, first- and second-graders at Mapleton Elementary School.
Partial funding is provided by the Maine Potato Board.
The book this year was about Maine blueberries. Children were pleased to learn that Maine is the number-one producer of wild blueberries in the world. The books were shared with the students and then gifted to the classroom libraries.
March is agriculture month and the Maine Agri-Women read books to area schools about Maine agriculture. Towns represented were Houlton, Littleton, St. Agatha, Madawaska, New Sweden, Fort Fairfield, Mars Hill, Woodland, Belfast and Mapleton.
