JACKMAN, Norma (Boyce), 90, WINDHAM, March 31, 2014. As was her wish, there will be a graveside interment service at Lakeside Cemetery in Wakefield, MA, this coming summer. Arrangements are in the care of Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services, Portland, ME.
WINDHAM, ME – Norma (Boyce) Jackman, 90, died peacefully in her sleep at Ledgewood Manor on Monday, March 31, 2014. Norma was born on April 2, 1923, in Cambridge, MA. She was the daughter of H. Prescott and Bessie Boyce.
Norma grew up in Wakefield, MA, and graduated from Wakefield High School in 1941. She continued her education in secretarial science at Bryant Stratton College.
On July 15, 1946, Norma married Robert C. Jackman. In the 55 plus of their marriage, they lived in Brookfield, NH; Reading, MA; Hampden, ME; Presque Isle, ME; and Standish, ME. They had two children, Robert P. Jackman of Gray and Sue Jackman of Newfield, ME.
Throughout their marriage, they enjoyed many years at their summer cottage on Balch Lake in Newfield, ME, and camp Squa Pan Lake in Northern ME. They also enjoyed many winters in Plant City, FL, during their retirement. Norma was most happy at the camp cooking, entertaining, braiding rugs, and spoiling her two kittens.
During her work career, Norma was the treasurer of the City of Presque Isle and a Claims Adjuster for USF&G Insurance. She was very proud to be USF&G’s first female claims adjuster and by her retirement, she was Workers Compensation Supervisor for Maine and New Hampshire. She was a member of the Presque Isle and Standish Congregational Churches. Norma was also very active in the Shady Nook Camp Association at Blach Lake.
In addition to being predeceased by her husband and parents, she was also predeceased by her step-mother, Jeannette Marchant Boyce; and her sister, Nancy Ratcliffe.
She is survived by her son, Robert P. Jackman and his wife, Rebecca of Gray, ME; her daughter, Sue and her husband, Robert Breznovits of Newfield, ME; her granddaughter, Jennifer Jackman Buompensiero and her husband, Matt of El Cajon, CA.
