Poppy queens crowned in Stockholm

STOCKHOLM — Members of the American Legion Post 136 Auxiliary of Stockholm held their annual Poppy Party on April 12. Auxiliary Chairmen Kathy Robinson and Jane Schaefer hosted a lunch for the girls and their families. Jane read “Flanders Field” and Poppy Queen Kayla Pinette read the essay she had written for the event. Competing for the crown, the girls either colored pictures of poppies, wrote an essay or created a poster.

During the Poppy Party, the girls decorated the cupcakes that Schaefer baked, and the girls brought their desserts home in containers donated by Cindy’s Subs of Caribou. Then they danced to the music from “Mama Mia.”
