PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Shannon Sweeney of Presque Isle, a senior at Presque Isle High School, has been selected to receive the 2014 Principal’s Award, which is sponsored by the Maine Principals’ Association and is given in recognition of a high school senior’s academic achievement and citizenship.

According to Principal Donna Lisnik, Sweeney has “represented excellence in student achievement in the classroom, on the athletic fields and as a school and community citizen.”

“She is presently holding offices in Student Council, Skills USA and FBLA,” said Lisnik. “She is a member of the math team, runs cross country and track and field, and is an alpine skier, which is her first love in sports. Shannon is also president of the National Honor Society. There is no doubt that Shannon is a student worthy of this recognition.”

Sweeney, Lisnik and other award winners and their principals attended an Honors Luncheon at the Spectacular Event Center in Bangor on April 5.

The Principal’s Award is presented in more than 100 Maine public and private high schools by member principals of the MPA, the professional association that represents Maine’s school administrators.
