HOULTON, Maine — The Southern Aroostook Ministerial Association (SAMA) invites all to their Good Friday Ecumenical Service Friday, April 18 at noon at the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church. The service will be a reflection on the seven last words of Christ. The service will feature opportunities for silence and quiet contemplation.
The ecumenical sunrise service will take place on the porch of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church at 6:30 a.m. with the Rev. Albert Burleigh giving the message. An ecumenical brass group organized by Harrison Roper and involving players from numerous denominations will provide the music.
Cooks from the Congregational and Unitarian Church will host an ecumenical Easter breakfast following the sunrise service at the Unitarian Church. There is no charge and all are welcome.
After eight years of service as chairperson, the Rev. Art Myers and his wife left Houlton in March to move to Ohio, where they will be closer to aging parents and other family members. The group is grateful for his dedication to SAMA during their time in Houlton. The new chairperson for the group is the Rev. Dale Holden.
