The 2014 Miss Mars Hill and Little Miss Mars Hill pageants were held on Saturday, April 5. The event began with the interviews taking place in the afternoon. The pageants started at 6 p.m., with the Greater Miss contestants doing their opening routine followed by the Little Misses’ opening number. This year’s theme was “Proud To Be An American.”
Mistress of ceremonies for the evening was Jenna Shaw. The night’s competition began with sportswear for both the Little and Greater contestants, followed by the talent competition. This was followed by the Little Miss and Greater Miss evening gown competitions. The Little Miss contestants were escorted from the stage by retired Marine Major Robert Canney.
The talent competition for the Little Miss contestants kicked off with Abigail Morrison performing a dance routine to “Car Wash.” Abigail was named Little Miss Bubbly and is the daughter of Matthew Morrison and Jennifer Carney.
Frankie Pierce was named Little Miss Happy and is the daughter of Scott and Ami Pierce. She performed a clogging routine to “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy.”
Delaney McKeen was named Little Miss Mars Hill 2014. She performed a gymnastics routine and vocal selection entitled “Part of Your World” as her talent. She is the daughter of Wade and Jennifer McKeen. Delaney was also named Little Miss Helpful.
Addison Mahan was named Little Miss Polite and performed a dance routine to “In Summer.” She is the daughter of Glenney and Misty Mahan.
Izabel Pryor performed a gymnastics routine to “Jail House Rock” as her talent and was named Little Miss Spirited. The daughter of Bradley and Nicole Pryor, Izabel was named first runner-up and received the prize for High Ticket Sales.
Gracie Bailey is the daughter of Dan and Kelly White and Alan Bailey. She performed a monologue entitled “Fairy Tale Tomboy” as her talent. She was named second runner-up and Little Miss Funny.
Kaitlyn Carvell is the daughter of Joel and Kathy Carvell. She performed a gymnastics routine to “Hot Wings” as her talent and was named Little Miss Thoughtful.
The first contestant for the Miss Greater Mars Hill 2014 title was Courtney Milliard, who sang “Let It Go” as her talent. The daughter of Steven and Tracey Milliard, Courtney’s escort for the evening was Connor Mahan.
Brittany Baird was named Miss Mars Hill 2014 and also Miss Congeniality. She did a performance art, drawing Albert Einstein, as her talent. The daughter of Corrina Willis and Patrick Baird, Brittany’s escort for the evening was Cody Embleton.
Whitnie Bradbury was named the first runner-up. She sang “Who Am I” as her talent. The daughter of Bart and Heather Bradbury, Whitnie was escorted by Clark Bradbury.
Mackenzie Hatt sang “Home” for her talent presentation. The daughter of George and Tammy Hatt, Mackenzie was escorted by Tyler Cadet.
Shannon Scully entertained the audience with a lyrical dance to “Traveling Soldier.” She is the daughter of Mark and Beverly Scully and was escorted by Cody Clayton. She also received the award for High Ticket Sales.
Entertainment was provided throughout the evening by Little Miss Mars Hill 2013 Anna Kilcollins, who did a gymnastics routine to “Surfin‘ USA,” and Miss Mars Hill 2013 Kayla Cushman, who sang “Blessings.“
