     GAGNON, Richard ‘Dick’ P., Sr., 82, FORT FAIRFIELD & PORTAGE LAKE, at Presque Isle, April 11, 2014. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m., Wed., April 16, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Presque Isle. Arrangements are in care of Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, Presque Isle.

     FORT FAIRFIELD & PORTAGE LAKE – Richard P. Gagnon Sr., 82, passed away Friday night, April 11, 2014, surrounded by his family at The Aroostook Medical Center, Presque Isle. He was born May 5, 1931, in Presque Isle, the son of Hubade and Madeleine (Fournier) Gagnon.  
    He served in the National Guard for a number of years. As a young man, Richard helped at the family store, Gagnon’s Market on Parson Street in Presque Isle. He attended and participated in sports programs at Presque Isle schools. Richard worked statewide as a welder and pipe fitter. He enjoyed the outdoors, boating, and camp life with his family and friends at Portage Lake. Dick’s special passion for restoring automobiles, tractors and boats demonstrated his creative talents and ingenuity.
    He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Edwena (Lynch-Philbrick) Fort Fairfield; a son, Roger Gagnon and his wife, Connie of Washburn; three stepsons and their wives, Paul and Cynthia Philbrick of Hampden, Keith and Peggy Philbrick of Virginia Beach, VA, Bruce and Tiffany Philbrick of Ellsworth; a brother, Donald Gagnon of Presque Isle; a sister, Bernice Allen of Bangor; four special grandchildren, Scott, Timothy, Nolan and Elizabeth; two great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
    Dick was predeceased by his first wife, Marie (Churchill); a son, Richard P. Gagnon Jr.; one brother, Maynard; five sisters, Mildred Wolfe, Beulah Spaulding, Dora Prior, Muriel Faucher, and Isamay Johnason.
    Relatives and friends called 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, April 15, at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church Street, Presque Isle. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Parish of the Precious Blood, Presque Isle, with Rev. Raymond Morency officiating. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the K of C Hall on Main Street in Fort Fairfield immediately following the service.
