Houlton LL final sign ups; adopt new rule
The final two nights of sign ups for the Houlton Area Little League will be tonight and tomorrow, April 16-17, at Houlton Southside School cafeteria from 5-8 p.m. Please bring the player’s birth certificate to registration.
Also, the Houlton Little League will be holding tryouts on Monday, April 28, for the Majors and softball leagues and on Wednesday, April 30 for the Minors Division. Both tryouts will be held from 5:30-7:30 p.m. If players are unable to get on the field, the tryouts will be held at Millar Civic Center.

Also, the Houlton Little League board has voted to allow any 9-year-old whose parents believe they could compete in the upper division a chance to be evaluated at the Majors tryout.
The board will use a three-step process to be followed: first, a parent needs to express to a board member that they feel their child is ready for the Majors; secondly, the board/coaches will evaluate the 9-year-old in a normal tryout situation based on ability, strength and maturity and then the board will make a recommendation; and thirdly, the player would be allowed to try out.
For more information, call Houlton Little League president David Tucker at 538-7079 or any board member. Tucker can also be reached by email at davetucker77@gmail.com.
