The 2014 Easton Pageant will be held Saturday, April 26, at 6 p.m. in the Easton High School.
Tickets can be bought in advance from any of the Easton contestants or queens. Tickets are $6 for adults, $3 for students and seniors. Children 4 and under are free. They look forward to seeing you there! FMI call 768-0798.
Happy Days Club update
The Easton Senior Happy Days Club met Thursday, April 10, with a breakfast brunch that was enjoyed by all. Each member designed their own Easter bonnet to honor the season. There were 17 members who attended, including: Sally Strout, Pat Coffin, Paul and Liana DeMerchant, Marie Hewitt, Ida Doak, Phyllis Nadeau, Arlene Ladner, Hollis Hull, Barbara Bonville, Betty Brown, Jean Ann Ames, Annette Copeland, Elizabeth Martin, Ezalee Smith, John and Nina Trask. The meeting was opened by President Nina Trask with a salute to the flag and the singing of “My Country Tis of Thee,” accompanied by Liana DeMerchant at the piano.
The club thanks the town of Easton for the money budgeted for our club activities and projects. They are truly grateful.
The next meeting will be Thursday, April 24. We will be having a potluck dinner at 11:30 a.m. All Easton seniors are invited to attend the club meetings and bring a friend for a delicious meal and an interesting afternoon.
Science Center
The Aroostook Auction Barn in Easton will host a benefit auction on Saturday, May 3, donating 100 percent of the proceeds to the Francis Malcolm Institute’s fund-raising campaign. Donations are needed; they’ll accept most items (no clothing please) such as antiques, furniture, appliances tools, toys, etc. Call 488-5451 or 540-5101 for more information.
Swim lessons start soon
Children in kindergarten (and those 4 and older who are not in ECP) will have the opportunity to take swim lessons on Wednesdays from April 30 through June 4. We will leave directly after their 1 p.m. dismissal and return in time to ride the after-school buses home. Grades one and up will have lessons on Tuesdays from April 29 through June 3; departing directly after school and returning at 4:30 p.m. The cost for both groups is $19.50, please make checks payable to the Town of Easton.
Rec calendar
Wednesday, April 23 — Swimming at Limestone Rec. Participants must be able to swim to attend. Be sure to send your child with a swimsuit and towel. The bus departs at 9:30 a.m. and will return by 12:30 p.m.
Indoor soccer tournament at Caribou Rec for grades 6-8. Departure time TBA.
Thursday, April 24 — Kickball tournament for grades 4-6 at Caribou Rec. The bus will depart at 8:15 a.m.
Braden Theater to see a movie. The bus departs at 12:30 p.m.; return time will be determined when movie is finalized. The cost is $5 for ticket, popcorn and soda.
Friday, April 25 — Dodge ball tournament at the Presque Isle Rec Department. This will be a fun morning of competitions.
Monday, April 28 — Adult Nutrition class at the Manor starting at 11 a.m. The cost is $3.
“Gluten Free” after-school cooking program at the Hall until 4:15 p.m. Free.
Tuesday, April 29 — First after-school swim lessons for grades one and up; pre-registration required.
Wednesday, April 30 — Junior Activities from 9:30-11 a.m. at the Hall.
First kindergarten swim lessons; the bus departs from the elementary school at 1 p.m.; pre-registration required.
