Wildcat fan supports coach Cummings

To the editor:
I find it very difficult to understand why a parent would feel the need to go to the school board with a complaint against a coach who is trying to teach his team how to conduct themselves at practice, in the locker room and at their games by not allowing them to use foul language.
After listening to some coaches and teams at games and you hear not only the coach but the team members using foul language I find it refreshing to have team members acting like gentlemen and the coach is to commended.
A statement made by this parent didn’t make much sense when he said “we are The Presque Isle Wildcats, not the Houlton Christian Academy.” In other words, foul language should be allowed for Wildcats?
The gist of this complaint seemed to be that certain players got more playing time than his son, indicating that the two players that didn’t raise their hands got a lot of playing time, which was false — the two were not starters and played when the coach wanted them to.
The fact that this coach taught his team how to conduct themselves paid off when they got the Good Sportsmanship Award at this year’s tournament. As a mother and grandmother who enjoys high school sports, I want to thank coach Cummings for his leadership with our young people.
