EASTON NEWS

by Hillary Hallett

Huber Engineered Woods and McCain Foods recently put on the second annual Relay for Life Basketball fundraiser. The event has been well received in the community and was even bigger and better this year.

Teams competing this year included: Huber, two teams from McCain’s, Easton Recreation Department, Mars Hill and Presque Isle fire departments. Easton Rec ended up narrowly defeating McCain’s with an at-the-buzzer shot.  The event raised almost double last year’s event for this great cause. In addition to the entrance fee for the tournament, there were many silent auction items, raffles, a concessions bar, bake sale and more! All teams had a great day and are looking for ways to make it bigger and better in 2015. This year’s event raised nearly $2,000 that will go towards this worthy cause.

Science Center fund-raising auction

The Aroostook Auction Barn in Easton will host a benefit auction on Saturday, May 3, and will donate 100 percent of the proceeds to the Francis Malcolm Institute’s fund-raising campaign. They need your help to make this event a success. They are looking for items to put up for auction. Business owners, kindly consider a donation of good and/or services to show your support. Thinking about spring cleaning? They will accept most items (no clothing please) such as antiques, furniture, appliances tools, toys, etc.  Call 488-5451 or 540-5101 with any questions or to arrange a delivery/pick up of a donation.
