Scott Mitchell Johnson talked to second-graders at Pine Street Elementary School

“If you could remodel one room in your home, what room would it be and how would you change it?”

“The bathroom. I would change the wallpaper. Right now it’s white and it doesn’t have any design. I’d change it to blue wallpaper with white bird designs. I’d also make the bathroom a little bigger.”

“It would probably be my bedroom, and I would repaint the walls because I don’t really like the color of them. Right now they’re yellow and blue, and I’d change them to orange. I’d also replace the brown carpet with a red carpet. It would be pretty bright.”

“I think I would pick the living room. I would make it a little bigger, and put in a pellet stove, a big TV in front of the couch, a love seat in front of the couch, and a stand by the love seat. I’d also put in two bookshelves — one for movies and the other for books.”

“I’d change my bedroom. I’d put my dresser where my bed is and put my bed where my dresser is. I’d also switch my sister’s toy box and my toy box around, and I’d change my gray rug to red.”

“My room. I’d put all kinds of different decorations in it so it would look pretty. Things like flowers and fans and ribbons. I’d put flower curtains up so the sun won’t blind me, and put fancy pillows and blankets on my bed.”

“My kitchen. I would put in new plumbing, ceiling, walls, flooring, a counter, a fridge, oven and a microwave. I’d put hardwood — like paneling — on the bottom of the walls that looks really old and paint the rest … probably tannish-brownish.”
