WASHBURN, Maine — Students from Washburn District High School’s Destination Imagination Team have been devoting much of their time recently to raising funds that will be used toward their trip to Knoxville, Tenn., to attend the Global Destination Imagination Celebration/Competition from May 20-25.

One of the ways the team is looking to raise money is through volunteering their services to local home and business owners in exchange for donations toward their trip.
“They’re working hard to raise funds needed for transportation, registration, meals and accommodations associated with attending the competition. They’ve planned community dinners/silent auctions, breakfasts, bottle drives and are selling a variety of items,” said their adviser, Tracy Reed. “They’re also offering to do odd jobs around your home or business, just in time for spring cleaning.”
Reed said any donation would be welcome.
“Team members are available to do odd jobs, such as yard work, house cleaning, babysitting, picking up your donated returnables, etc. If you’d like to hire students to do odd jobs or make a donation, call me at 455-4501 or email treed@msad45.net,” said Reed.
Global Finals is the culminating event of every DI season. On May 20-24, over 1,100 teams from groups from 45 states, seven Canadian provinces and 13 countries gather to showcase their Challenge solutions. Over 15,000 people attend Global Finals to celebrate creativity and fun.
