RATTRAY, Frederick A. “Fred”, 86, EASTON, at Presque Isle, April 24, 2014. He will be interred at a later date at Estes Park Cemetery, Easton. Arrangements are in the care of Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, Presque Isle.
EASTON – Frederick A. “Fred” Rattray, 86, died Thursday afternoon April 24, 2014, at the Aroostook Medical Center in Presque Isle. He was born on June 17, 1927, in Rowena, N.B. Canada, the son of Winslow and Inez Coldwell Rattray.
He married Anita Morrisey on July 19, 1950. Fred was self-employed as a timber broker, and was well known throughout Aroostook County and New Brunswick. He loved fly fishing especially for Atlantic salmon. He also loved spending time with his family, attending bluegrass festivals and he played several stringed instruments including his favorite, the violin.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 64 years, Anita of Easton, are his children Debbie Rooney and her husband Steve of Easton, Barbara Halvorson and her husband Philip of Presque Isle; his grandchildren, Lance Kierstead, Barbara Allen and her husband Chris, J R Kierstead, Jason Rooney and his wife Emily, Charity Eivers and her husband Jeremiah, Lauren and Logan Halvorson; three great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Makayla and Amy; a brother ,Charles Edwin Rattray and his wife Alta of Easton; a sister, Ethel Tweedy of New Brunswick; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, his brother Gordy, a sister Dorothy, a daughter Sandra, and a granddaughter Mandy.
A Christian funeral service was held 4 p.m., Sunday, April 27, 2014 at the Presque Isle Wesleyan Church with Reverends Greg Jackson and Budd Fancy officiating. Immediately following the service all were invited to a time of fellowship and refreshments at the church. He will be interred at a later date at Estes Park Cemetery, Easton.
