PROULX, Patrick Roland, 88, PRESQUE ISLE & PORTLAND, April 6, 2014. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church in Waterville on May 16 at 11 a.m. with committal service to follow at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery in Waterville.
PRESQUE ISLE & PORTLAND – Patrick Roland Proulx, 88, died April 6, 2014. He was born March 26, 1926, in Waterville, ME, son of the late Albert and Alice (Duranleau) Proulx.
He attended local schools, graduating from Waterville High School in 1944. He then joined the Navy, serving on the attack cargo ship the USS Devosa. During his career, Patrick worked at Gulf Service Station, Texgas, Purolator Courier, and Aroostook Regional Transportation System, all in Presque Isle.
Baseball was one of the enduring passions of his life. He played shortstop for the Presque Isle Indians in the Maine/New Brunswick league and on Class D and C teams at the professional level in the West Texas/New Mexico league. In 2009, he was inducted into the Maine Baseball Hall of Fame. He also loved playing cards, especially cribbage, and even played spirited games of partner cribbage with his grandchildren until shortly before passing away.
Patrick is survived by his daughter, Patrice (with Marilyn Brown), her husband, Gregory Morin, and grandchildren, Jessamyn and Tristan Proulx-Morin, of Omaha, NE; son, Real and his wife, Susan of Presque Isle and daughter, Holly of Eagle Lake; also survived by his current wife, Ellen Joyce McDonough (2007); and three stepdaughters.
Patrick was predeceased by his wife of many years, Marilyn Brown Proulx, in 2002; and siblings, Beatrice, Real, Rudolph, Juliette, Irene, Colleen and Albert Proulx.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church in Waterville on May 16 at 11 a.m. with committal service to follow at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery in Waterville.
