MCKEE, Ronald W. “Ron”, 69, MASARDIS, April 26, 2014. A memorial service will be held at the VFW in Ashland on Saturday, May 10, 2014, at 3 p.m. Arrangements in care of Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, Presque Isle.
MASARDIS – Ronald W. “Ron” McKee, 69, passed away at home on Saturday, April 26, 2014, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, surrounded by his loving family. Ron was born in Presque Isle, on June 22, 1944, the son of Ronald and Erma (Roth) McKee, and spent much of his youth in Masardis.
He graduated from Lawrence High School in Lawrence, MA, before joining the U.S. Army and serving in France and Germany.
Ron always maintained a love for Northern Maine and chose to settle in Masardis after his service. He worked for the Maine Department of Transportation, owned and operated McKee Trucking and the Masardis Cash Market. He ended his career as a mail carrier for the Ashland Post Office.
Ron had a deep love of music and played regularly at Dusty’s Jamboree in Mapleton and at the Oxbow Blue Grass Music Festival. Ron was a member of the Masonic Temple in Ashland and actively pursued woodworking and carpentry.
Ron will be remembered as a good Samaritan who always had a ready smile and kind word for everyone.
Ron will be greatly missed by his son, Jason Bartlett, his wife, Jessica and their daughter, Amelia of Mapleton; life long friend, Hallie McKee of Ashland; siblings, Judith Waddell, Marie Davidson, Louise Launer, Jeffrey McKee, Charles “Chuck” McKee, Lori McKee Warga and Donna Henderson; two loving nieces, Dawn and Katie Roberts; as well as many other nieces, nephews, cousins and their children.
A memorial service will be held at the VFW in Ashland, ME, on Saturday, May 10, 2014, at 3 p.m.
