HOULTON, Maine — Anyone who is a hockey fan knows Wayne Gretzky is called “The Great One” for his accomplishments on the ice. Those fans will have an opportunity to bid on an autographed Gretzky jersey as part of the Health Services Foundation charity auction Saturday, May 10, at the Horn Restaurant Event Center.

“This jersey comes complete with Letter of Authenticity and will join two other highlighted items showcased on auction night — a Smith & Wesson 1911 E Series firearm from Smith & Wesson, and a Blair Diamond watch from Goodrich Jewelry,” said Elizabeth Dulin, Foundation executive director.
Hogan Tire donated the Gretzky jersey, along with a Tim Wakefield autographed baseball, to the Foundation.
“We extend our sincere thanks to Hogan Tire for being a part of this year’s auction and giving us this outstanding signed memorabilia piece,” Dulin said. “We have a lot of ardent hockey fans here in The County and all of northern Maine so what better place to present something of this caliber than right here at home to help us raise the needed funding for a new ultrasound system for Houlton Regional Hospital.”
Dulin added she looked forward to a night of bidding on approximately 100 items, which she hopes will be well received by those in the audience.
“Our outstanding donors have contributed some amazing pieces and a visit to our website at www.healthservicesfoundation.org will let everyone see what all that generosity has provided,” she said.
A preview of the items will be held at 5 p.m., with a pre-auction party featuring music from Wyatt Jenkins and Zach Waite. The live auction starts at 7 p.m. Hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar, tables and chairs set up will provide all the amenities for a great night for a great cause.
