In an effort to raise money for the local charity “Autism Love,” students from Houlton High School have decided to take a chilly plunge.
The students will participate in a “Polar Dip” on May 21 at 6 p.m. at Crescent Park on Nickerson Lake.
“Each year the National Honor Society must participate in an annual service project,” explained NHS advisor Erica Tweedie. “This year, the Houlton High School Chapter of the National Honor Society has chosen to take the plunge. There will be 12 students braving the frigid water to raise money for the local charity Autism Love.”
Autism Love mission is to help autism families have a valuable resource close to home. They help families with support, small scholarships, subscriptions and therapy.
Each student is responsible for collecting pledges in order to take the dip. For more information, contact Tweedie or Josh Sullivan, NHS president at Houlton High School, 532-6551.
