To the editor:
I was present at the April 14, 2014, town council meeting and what I heard was amazing.
Let me start off by saying, the last two town managers, Doug Hazlett and Gene Conlogue, were, in my opinion, very professional and also very committed to serving the citizens of Houlton.
In the past, I have worked with them both, Mr. Hazlett and Mr. Conlogue, and the communication between us was successful in moving Houlton forward. No one should try to micromanage anyone. Let our town manager and our department heads do their jobs.
Some on this council have a lack of communication skills. This, in my opinion, is slowing down moving Houlton forward. Listen and talk to each other and understand, then act responsibly.
Given the events and departure of our last two town managers, I believe it could have a negative impact in the quality of applicants we will receive. We can do better. We just need to try harder. Thank you.
