DANFORTH, Maine — The East Grand Adventure Race returns Saturday, May 10 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The 20 mile race includes a 1.5 mile off trail compass run, which may include a river traverse (depending upon water level and air temps that day); 10 miles of mountain biking; and eight miles of paddling (canoe or kayak).
Extra challenges in the field may include a mud crawl, two-person cross cut saw competition, tomahawk throwing and log rolling. Challenges are optional but many want to do them so they can earn minutes off their overall course time.
Divisions for the race are as follows: race in pairs in the high school boys, girls, mixed; adult men, women, mix; junior/senior and open. The open division can by solo, teams of any size, relay, kayak or canoe. In short, anything that doesn’t fit into the other divisions can compete in the open division.
Entering a relay team is a great way to participate without having to complete the entire course. Entry fee is $20 per person, which includes trophies, T-shirt, lunch and over $1,000 in prizes for youth divisions. Proceeds benefit East Grand School’s outdoor education program.
The registration deadline is Friday, May 9.
